The Q55 ultrasonic liquid processor is a compact unit that uses minimal realestate on your bench. The Q55 sonicator is perfect for smal volume applications like cell disruption and homogenization.
A sonicator uses three major components; a generator, a converter, and a probe. The generator generate high electrical energy from A/C voltage and delivers it to the converter in 20 kHz pulses. The piezoelectric converter then converts this energy into mechanical vibrations. These vibrations are then amplified and transmitted down the probe, where the probe tip expands and contracts. In liquid, the rapid vibration of the tip causes cavitation which allows for the processing of many applications.
Note: Sonicators produce high decibel noise above OSHA recommended exposure levels. A Sound Enclosure is recommended When Sonicator works.
